Matching your date is entirely up to you (and your date). Note that your pictures will always look better if you coordinate. Tuxedos aren't just black anymore, and you may want to consider a color such charcoal, white, and ivory. Accessories come in a wide range of colors which coordinated well with all of tuxedos and are a safe bet with any prom dress.
